The central deputation tenure of Vipin Kumar as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has been lengthened until June 24, 2027.
As per an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (May 6, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the proposal of the Ministry of Civil Aviation to continue his deputation tenure up to June 24, 2027, or until additional directives are issued, whichever comes earlier.
Vipin Kumar has been functioning as Chairman of AAI at the Additional Secretary level since the final week of October 2024. Before this assignment, he was posted as an Additional Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy.
The Bihar cadre IAS officer had commenced central deputation on June 24, 2020, as Joint Secretary in the Department of School Education and Literacy. He was subsequently empanelled as an Additional Secretary and later promoted to the position in the same department.
